Some children swim in the river Jordan, on the way to Jerusalem. It is summer and the plants are bearing fruit. There are paths everywhere. People and memories waiting to be named. It is new year in Palestine.

Yaela Gottlieb
Yaela Gottlieb is a Peruvian director, curator and teacher. She studied Film at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and, after ten years living in Argentina, moved to Germany on a DAAD scholarship. Her work explores photography, film and video through editing that takes in emotion, in tension with fiction. Her films have screened at festivals including FID Marseille, Punto de Vista, Berlin Critics' Week, FICValdivia, Bafici and the Lima Film Festival, among others, and at museums such as MAR – Museum of Contemporary Art, Fundación Proa and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires. She has curated special programmes at cultural centres and museums in Spain, Peru, Argentina and Germany. Awards include the Juan Downey Prize for Latin American creation (Chile, 2022), the Buenos Aires Young Art Biennial (2019), the CineAr Prize (2023), grants from the National Arts Fund (Argentina, 2019 and 2022) and Berlinale Talents BA. She produced "El cine ha muerto" (24th Thessaloniki Festival) and "Esa casa amarilla" (39th Turin Film Festival). In 2021 she premiered her first feature, "No hay regreso a casa".
