This programme presents a selection of feature films from a range of countries, most of them never before screened in Brazil. At the end of the festival, an official jury will award one of them the Jairo Ferreira Prize for Best Feature Film.

This programme presents a selection of short films from a range of countries. At the end of the festival, an official jury will award one of them the Jairo Ferreira Prize for Best Short Film.

Brazilian Shorts Showcase

9 films

A cross-section of short films from different parts of Brazil. At the end of the festival, a young jury made up of the members of the shorts selection committee will choose one film to receive an award.

Tribute to Pablo Llorca

12 films

12 titles by the Spanish filmmaker, screened throughout the festival. The selection spans the period from 1993 to 2025, with most of the films never before shown in Brazil.

Pablo Llorca (Madrid, 1963) is a director, screenwriter, producer and editor. Over more than three decades he has built an entirely independent filmography, conceiving, writing, directing and editing all of his films through his own production company, La Cicatriz. A professor of History of Cinema and History of Photography at the University of Salamanca, he combines his filmmaking with theoretical work: he writes, devises film programmes and curates exhibitions.

Frans van de Staak Retrospective

11 films

For the first time in Brazil, we present a selection of 11 titles by the Dutch filmmaker, screened from 16mm prints lent by the Eye Filmmuseum. This programme is held in partnership with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in São Paulo.

Frans van de Staak (1943–2001) studied at the Netherlands Film Academy from 1963. He financed his first films with savings from his work as a graphic artist. His work investigates the relations between space, time, language, image and movement. In 1980 he completed his first feature film, The Imperfect Tulip. He also worked as a producer and editor on other filmmakers' films.
