Synopsis

A sculptor sets up his studio in a remote rural stretch of the Galician coast. Little by little he cuts himself off from the world around him, breaking all contact with friends and family. He begins to imagine a new identity. One day, however, the past comes to find him.

Ángel Santos

A Galician filmmaker active since 2002, his work belongs to the movement known as the New Galician Cinema. He holds a degree in Art History and a diploma in Film Directing from the Centre d'Estudis Cinematogràfics de Catalunya. Las Altas Presiones (2014), his second fiction feature, had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and won the New Waves Award at the Seville European Film Festival (SEFF). He is a co-founder of Novos Cinemas – Pontevedra International Film Festival, where he was artistic director for its first five editions (2015–2019). As a teacher, he has taken part for over a decade in the audiovisual education project Cinema en Curs (A Bao A Qu / CGAI), run in schools. He has also written on cinema for publications such as Miradas de Cine, Blogs & Docs and Shangri-la; taught seminars at universities, art centres and festivals; and worked as a consultant at the project development forums WIP at the Málaga Festival, MECAS in Las Palmas and FIDBA in Buenos Aires. He has served on the juries of international festivals including FICX, FICUNAM and Punto de Vista.
