Synopsis

Frans van de Staak's first feature-length film, De onvoltooide tulp is made up of 28 dialogues, each performed by one actor and one actress, both non-professionals. Staging, interaction, movement and gesture change drastically from one dialogue to the next, building something closer to a catalogue than a conventional narrative. The exchanges — lines written by van de Staak himself — are so realistic that they end up exposing the absurd, comic side of language rather than functioning as ordinary conversation.
