Sonate

Frans van de Staak's shortest film, Sonate cuts between a man reciting words in English and Dutch and close details of the port where the scene unfolds. Its soundtrack layers speech, noise and a piece of recorded music, with tone and volume shifting constantly for a jarring, high-pitched effect.
